August 7th is Friday Fest Downtown. It starts at 6pm and ends at 10pm. This is a pet-friendly event. There are vendors with food and unique items for you to purchase. It is fun for the whole family. There are live bands playing and usually a car show.

If you own a business it's a great way to let the public know what services or products you have available.

If you do bring you bring your dog, please remember how hot it is and bring water or make sure you have money to purchase one for your pet. Also, if you dog does not like loud music, it may not be a good idea to bring them.

Places to Stay in Panama City With Your Dog

Staying in Panama City, Florida does not have to be a terrible ordeal for those that bring their pets. Taking your pet along with you on vacation is more popular than it once was, say 10 years ago. And motels and hotels are getting in on the action.

The Red Roof Inn at 217 US Hwy 231 in Panama City, Florida, 32405, accepts pets. This recently built property does have weight limitations on pets. It is one pet per room that is 80 lbs or less. They must be delcared during registration and must be well-behaved.

Beach for dogs!

Want a fun place to take your dog? One where they can swim, interact with other dogs and have the time of their life? I suggest the Dog Beach on Panama City Beach. It's located west of the Dan Russell Pier at the south base of Pier Park.

It was October 11 of 2007 that the Panama City Beach Council voted to create a place where dogs and their owners could have fun. We owe them many thanks for allowing our canine companions a place to play in the sand and surf. The area is not a huge strip down the beach, but it is very adequate. There is enough room for people to lay down a towel or chair and bring their dog(s) and still have enough room between them and the next family.

C & I took our little Pembroke Welsh Corgi this past weekend. She had fun! She even let out her wookie noise to tell us so. We saw well-behaved dogs and their owners having fun. The water was a little too cold for us to get in, but we enjoyed sitting on our towel watching everyone. I did hear some complaints from a couple next to us.

Get this: They were complaining about the dogs being on the beach. Um...evidently they didn't notice the signs and they did have the option of moving past the pet designated areas signs. Seriously. It's not that hard to walk a couple of feet away so that the "dogs" won't bother you or find another part of the beach to visit.

There are rules to abide by so please take note of them. You can visit http://www.bayfwd.org/mainland_dog_beach.php to read more. The rules are pretty simple to follow. Read them over before you go. It will make you and your dog's visit much more fun.

Hungry after having some beach fun? Take a stroll through Pier Park. Some restaurants that have tables outside don't mind if you bring your pet as long as you sit outside and Rover is well-behaved. If Rover still has energy left over from the beach. You can travel to the left of Pier Park to Aaron Bessant Park. It's a nice area for further play indulgence. Remember to bring plenty of water and to clean up after your fur-kid. It's one of the best places to take your dog.

St Andrews State Park

Need a great place to go hiking with your dog? St Andrews State Park, located 3 miles east of Panama City Beach, off of Thomas Drive, is a great place to go. A couple of months ago, I took my rottweiler there. We loved it!

This is more of a dog-friendly place versus an all pet-friendly place.

If you like to go camping, you can take your dogs with you. There are some rules to keep everyone happy and safe. You can read those rules at their website here http://www.floridastateparks.org/standrews/Activities.cfm

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on the beach, in the wetlands or on the playground. But they are allowed on the hiking trails, bike trails and in the picnic area. B loved walking the soft sand along the trail. Keep in mind to have plenty of water and potty bags ready for your pet as these are not available. Also, there are mosquitoes present and your dog needs to be on heartworm preventative. All it takes is one mosquito and your beloved furred friend could be in danger. Another thing to be aware of is how hot the sand is. Since we, as humans, wear shoes most of the time, we don't take that into consideration. So remember to keep your pet in the shade as much as you can.

There is an admission fee and at the time of this research, it was $5.00 a vehicle.

Doggie Day Care in Panama City, Florida

Do your dogs need a playmate? Perhaps a little care while you're at work? Maybe you just need a little time to yourself? Where your little (or big) bundle of joy and fur will be safe and have a great time? Where your furkid will get a snack and a nap and hopefully has played their little hearts out so that when you pick them up, they're pretty tired and want to rest for the rest of the night? I have a solution. Dagny & Dexter's Doggie Daycare. It's located at 117 W 34th Court in Panama City, FL. You can get more information at their website, http://dagnyanddexters.homestead.com/ . They have pretty reasonable rates. It's $15.00 per daycare visit and $25.00 for an overnight stay. If your loved one. whether they're a drooler or a wagger, or possibly both, needs to have an overnight stay they get a nighttime kong treat, a fuzzy fleece blanket and even a bedtime movie! Plus they get the advantages of the day time care. The daycare is not open on the weekends, so you need to take that into account. Don't be alarmed, those that need overnight stays over the weekends will have someone caring for them. Your lovey will not just be left there over the weekend. They do have rules at Dagny & Dexter's Doggie Daycare. So please read those carefully. You can find them on their website, visit them or even give them a call. I'm sure you could even ask for a tour before you make a decision. After all, this is your best friend you're talking about. I'm sure you'll find everything is perfect for your prince or princess and enroll them. After all, who doesn't want to see a smile on their beloved pooch.
